TW Engineering designed, built, deployed, and commissioned a complete Warehouse Control System (WCS) with Mobile Racking System (MRS) and Warehouse Robot System (WRS/AGV) for Airport Authority Hong Kong — the operator of Hong Kong International Airport.

Problem

The challenge

AA Hong Kong needed a warehouse control and automation system that orchestrated MRS (mobile racks) and AGVs (warehouse robots) across multiple airport work sites — at aviation-grade KPIs: 24/7 continuous operation, 100% emergency-stop success, and dual-module power redundancy.

Centralized Control System

  • Local on-premises Windows server
  • Real-time operations, navigation, safety protocols for MRS+WRS
  • Web-based UI with role-based authentication

Mobile Racking System (MRS)

  • Pallets up to 1200×1200×1200mm, 1000kg each
  • Internal wheel carriages rated for 24,000kg
  • Minimum 5 m/min movement speed
  • WCS-controlled, with on-rack and manual contingency modes

Warehouse Robot System (WRS / AGV-AMR)

  • Tote-box AGV/AMR — forward/back/side/rotational motion
  • Speed: 1.6 m/s unloaded / 1.35 m/s loaded
  • 30kg per tote, 120kg total capacity
  • ±10mm navigation and positioning accuracy
  • Lithium battery — 45V / 40Ah, 2000 charge cycles
  • Dual power-module redundancy for 24/7 ops
